FAQ
How does Ruben's Electric determine pricing for electrical work?
We provide free estimates so you understand the full scope and cost before any work begins. Pricing depends on several factors including the complexity of the job, materials needed, labor time, and whether travel costs apply. For simpler tasks like outlet replacement or circuit breaker resets, costs are typically lower, while larger projects like panel upgrades or wiring for home additions involve more involved work and materials. We're transparent about all fees upfront so there are no surprises on your final bill.
Are you licensed and insured?
Ruben's Electric maintains proper licensing and insurance to protect both our team and your home. When hiring an electrician, it's important to verify these credentials because unlicensed work can create safety hazards like electrocution or electrical fires, and you may lack recourse if something goes wrong. Always ask to see proof of licensing and insurance before any work begins, and make sure the electrician is qualified to handle your specific project.
Does Ruben's Electric handle EV charger installation and lightning protection?
We specialize in electric vehicle charger installation and lightning protection repairs as part of our full range of electrical services. Whether you're adding an EV charging station to your home or need lightning protection for your property, our team has the expertise to handle these specialized installations safely and to code. We also manage wiring, panel upgrades, and electrical work for home additions and remodels, so we can handle both everyday repairs and complex projects.
What should I expect in terms of timeline and scheduling?
Ruben's Electric works with you to schedule appointments at times that fit your schedule. The timeline for your project depends on its complexity-a simple repair like resetting a circuit breaker or replacing an outlet might take under an hour, while larger jobs like panel upgrades or rewiring for a home addition take longer. When we provide your estimate, we'll give you a clear timeframe so you know what to expect and can plan accordingly.
How does Ruben's Electric handle cleanup after electrical work?
We take responsibility for the work we perform, including any damage caused during the process. Before we start, we discuss exactly what the job will involve and whether additional repairs or contractor work might be needed. Our team ensures your home is left in proper condition, and we address any mess or debris from the installation or repair work so you're not left dealing with the aftermath.
Why should I hire a professional electrician instead of attempting electrical work myself?
Electrical work carries serious safety risks if not done properly, including electrocution and fire hazards. Professional electricians have specialized training, proper tools, and knowledge of local electrical codes to ensure the job is completed safely and correctly the first time. We can diagnose problems accurately-for example, identifying whether flickering lights are caused by loose connections, overloaded circuits, or faulty fixtures-and provide lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes that could create bigger problems down the road.
