7 months agoUpdate nine months later: I discovered the L & N Carpet Cleaning business at the Lansing Home and Garden Show in March of 2019 hosted by the MSU Pavilion on the campus of Michigan State University. My duct work had not been cleaned for over 10 years so I took them up on their special home and garden show discount. I arranged for them to come out and clean my duct work, dryer ventilation system, and a hallway carpet. They left four return air vents on the floor and didn't even clean five of the upstairs return vents & ducts. I paid $65 to have a short strip of carpet cleaned on my upstairs hallway and it's still stained. I had to call three times over three days to have them come back and finish the job. Because I was curious, I asked how they cleaned the 25 feet of four inch dryer exhaust tubing and was told that they do it from "the outside." The gentleman said his dad perfected the technique because it helps them avoid having to move the clothes dryer inside the house. I wanted my dryer exhaust system cleaned because my dryer was not drying my clothes in the normal amount of time. Even after L&N cleaned the exhaust tubing, the problem continued to get worse and worse over time. Because I had my dryer vent tubing cleaned by L&N, I thought my dryer was the problem so I resorted to using my dryer in the basement. After 9 months of blaming my dryer and doing laundry in the basement, I remembered that the L & N Carpet Cleaning gentleman told me that they cleaned my dryer vent from the "outside." My dryer ventilation tubing has three 90 degree bends and it occurred to me that it would be next to impossible to snake a cleaning device around three 90 degree elbows. So I took the tubing apart in the basement and found the source of my dryer problem. My dryer tubing was plugged with lint. It had never been cleaned and I paid extra for that service. Nine months after blaming a defective dryer, I discovered that L & M Carpet Cleaning never cleaned my dryer ventilation system but took my money anyway. Now I'm being told that I have no redress because it's been nine months since they were at my house. However, I assumed all along that the vent tubing was actually cleaned by L & M Carpet Cleaning and was, therefore, not the problem with my clothes not getting dry. I mistakenly blamed my dryer. L & N Carpet Cleaning is a dishonest, incompetent business enterprise with no integrity. I do not recommend this company and would caution anyone hiring them to be on site and watch what they do to ensure they are doing the job you paid for. I wish I had read the reviews on this company before I hired them to clean my duct work. On their first visit, they were in and out in a little over an hour which seemed fast considering I was told the duct work in my two story house would take at least two hours to clean. They left four return air vents on the floor and didn't even clean five of the upstairs return vents & ducts. I paid $65 to have a short strip of carpet cleaned on my upstairs hallway and it's still stained. I had to call three times over three days to have them come back and finish the job. The guys were nice enough but complete amateurs. They bent one return vent while reattaching it to the wall. I paid $500 to have this job done and I have no confidence that my duct work is actually clean. I would never recommend this company. Bummer. 07/09/2025 update: I am still angry with L & N Carpet Cleaning for not cleaning my dryer vent or upstairs return vents in 2019. They totally ripped me off for $500.00 and never did the cleaning. They also would not refund my money for not doing the dryer exhaust cleaning. It's sad how such incompetence and dishonesty clings to one's conscientiousness after all these years.
