7 months agoSolectric, from end to end is an honest perfect company. Daniel and his associates are top notch. It's rare to come across a company that delivers exactly what they promised AND we're so accommodating. It actually worried us that we couldn't believe the service we were receiving. Office and field staff were wonderful. I cannot recommend this company more. -

1 year agoShould you go solar? Yes! Should you work with Solectric and SunPower? Not sure. I was initially very happy with my system, then in the second year I noticed some production decline. Did the obvious, washed the panels really well, started paying closer attention to my bill and the data from SunPower. I contacted SunPower customer support they said to reset the system, worked great for a while then production tapered again. Contact customer support, reset the system, goes up, goes back down etc... numerous times. Eventually SunPower starts throwing out other possible issues, all directed at me, Internet connection, rats chewing wire etc. This is when I realize their system is not at all advanced. There is no monitoring and remote diagnostics is crude, meanwhile I have a new part time job monitoring my system and reseting. I've looked for rats and crawled around my attic testing connections. SunPower eventually tells me to go bother the installer. Where I get to explain this all over again and field the same accusations that clearly I am wrong. Then they want me to sign a contract before they do any diagnostics, which I refuse. A tech comes out, does some software updates, agrees that something is not right, doesn't do any further tests. It was raining that day, hard to diagnose with little sun... Production taper consists, I email to schedule an appointment, appointments get cancelled. I reset production goes up, I monitor, production ceases entirely, I reset. Oh, its working great we don't need to come out... Wash rinse repeat. I'm not happy, unfortunately you can't just unload a solar system. You are stuck with it. You buy it, it's yours. It's a collection of parts that is ultimately yours to maintain. SunPower used to have a stellar reputation, that was before the Maxeon split. Solectrec's great reviews are from older jobs. I understand the solar business has gotten tough in California, people blame the utilities rightly but it's the IBEW that has Newsom's ear as well. Regrets? Yes, I should have been a little more patient with Tesla. Their systems are very cookie cutter, but their tech is good. In spite of all the click bait headlines I've had very good service with my six year old model 3. Now that I've had all this experience troubleshooting my system, I realize the system is really not that complicated. I'd probably build my own system, if I were to do it again. It's certainly my system now.
