8 months agoI just bought three rugs from here and they were beautiful, and well priced for what they are. I'm chemically sensitive and most rugs off gas from the chemicals used either in the fiber or in the glue or in the backing. So I need all natural rugs. That can get very expensive very fast. They had a wonderful selection and great service. Very easy to work with, and I would recommend them to anyone. -

5 years agoI have bought rugs from Chris at Nomad Rugs over 15 years or so, and I have been more than happy with every one. And they have been different styles, I have not just bought the same type rug. I always compare prices with other online vendors, and his are equal or lower, and he is TOTALLY reasonable and available for questions. Clearance deals are fantastic. Don't hesitate to buy a rug from Nomad, do it! -

5 years agoWe love this place! We got our first Nomad rug in the halcyon days when you could go inside the store - it was a very relaxed low pressure experience, not what I was used to from rug shopping. Our daughter played on a toy kitchen set while the owner told us about his sourcing relationships with the various communities across Afghanistan and the other employee patiently flipped through five tons of gorgeous rugs. The owner gave great advice, helping us choose the perfect rug for our budget. And the rug completely transformed our room. But beware - it's habit forming!! We now have two rugs and I keep an eye out for their marketing emails.... -

5 years agoI worked with Chris over at Nomad rugs and he was such a pleasure to work with. I had numerous questions and he was able to make recommendations and answer all of my questions thoroughly and professionally. Doing business with them was a smooth and painless process. I would highly recommend Nomad Rugs based on service alone. It was also impressive they were able to ship the rug out immediately with tracking information included via email. I am still waiting on the rug to arrive, and will comment again based on quality and aesthetics.

FAQ
How does Nomad Rugs determine pricing for rugs and carpet pads?
Pricing reflects the style, quality, and origin of handpicked rugs from Afghanistan, along with the type of carpet pad selected. We offer rugs that are well-priced for their handmade craftsmanship and low-chemical properties, suitable even for those with sensitivities. Customers receive guidance to find options that fit their budget and space without high-pressure tactics.
Are you licensed and insured?
Nomad Rugs operates as a trusted carpet contractor with over 15 years of experience serving San Francisco homeowners. We prioritize safe selections like low-off-gassing rugs to protect customer health and home environments. Our long-term customer relationships demonstrate consistent professionalism in every transaction.
Does Nomad Rugs offer carpet pads and rug testing in homes?
We provide two types of carpet pads to complement our selection of Afghan rugs, enhancing durability and fit in your space. Take any rug home to test it, and use our 30-day exchange option if it does not suit your needs. This approach lets you assess the rug's look, feel, and performance in your actual lighting and decor.
What is your scheduling process and timeline for rug selection?
We guide you through low-pressure consultations at our San Francisco location to match rugs to your space over a flexible timeline. The 30-day exchange allows time to test selections at home without rush. This ensures you commit only when the rug aligns perfectly with your sensitivities and style preferences.
What happens after I exchange a rug with Nomad Rugs?
Exchanges under our 30-day option are straightforward; bring the rug back, and we handle the swap for another from our inventory. We focus on seamless transitions to keep your home disruption-free during the process. This policy supports informed choices tailored to your living area.
Why is your approach better than buying rugs DIY online?
We specialize in handpicked Afghan rugs with verified low-chemical properties, ideal for those with sensitivities that generic online options often lack. Our in-person guidance and home testing prevent mismatches in color, pattern, and scale that DIY purchases frequently overlook. Over 15 years, this method has ensured rugs truly enhance spaces without health risks or regrets.
