7 years agoTaylor built our freestanding cellar at least ten years ago. It still is as good as it was then. We are needing a cellar for our daughter and plan on using them again! -

8 years agoI hired Taylor storm shelters to build me an outside free-standing safe room. They poured the floor the first day. The second day they came back to form the walls and called it quits due to it being cold. I didn't see them back for a week and then it was too windy then to finish forming the walls. When they finally did pour the walls it got down to 22 degrees that night. Three days later they pulled the forms off and the outside of the safe room cosmetically looks terrible! The electric boxes inside have nails sticking out of them and one is half full of concrete. Not to mention they had a nice gravel driveway to keep the concrete trucks on but still managed to drive through the grass! I paid $10,500 for a job to be done 100% and got very poor results. The owner of the company told me "that's just the way it is"! I would not recommend this company to anyone!

FAQ
How much does a storm shelter from Taylor Storm Shelters cost, and do you provide free estimates?
Pricing for storm shelters depends on factors like size, type such as freestanding cellars or above-ground safe rooms, and site-specific installation needs like excavation for underground concrete units. We offer free estimates after assessing your property at 624 N Shallow Brook in Stillwater, OK, to provide a custom quote tailored to FEMA standards. Homeowners should also check local building codes, as permit fees may apply separately.
Are you licensed and insured for storm shelter installations?
Taylor Storm Shelters constructs shelters that meet FEMA standards for protection against F5 storms, ensuring compliance with established safety guidelines. We carry appropriate insurance to cover our concrete construction and installation work on freestanding cellars, underground units, and indoor safe rooms. Our long-term durability is proven, with installations lasting over a decade without issues.
Does Taylor Storm Shelters handle installation of underground concrete storm shelters and above-ground safe rooms?
We manage the full installation process, from excavating for underground concrete storm shelters to pouring floors and forming walls for freestanding safe rooms, as seen in our garage and backyard projects. Our concrete constructions are designed to withstand extreme tornado conditions while meeting FEMA standards. This professional approach includes proper anchoring and site preparation for both in-ground and above-ground options.
What is the typical timeline for your storm shelter projects?
Taylor Storm Shelters completes many installations in two days, such as pouring the floor on day one and forming walls on day two for freestanding safe rooms. Larger underground projects may require additional time for excavation and concrete work, depending on soil conditions and shelter size. We coordinate scheduling to minimize disruption and align with your availability in Stillwater, OK.
What happens to the debris and how do you leave the site after Taylor Storm Shelters installs a storm shelter?
We remove excavation dirt, concrete forms, and other debris from underground installations, leaving your backyard or garage clean and ready for use. For above-ground wooden or concrete shelters, we tidy the surrounding area, ensuring fresh dirt is leveled around in-ground units. This cleanup process helps you resume normal activities quickly after our sturdy, FEMA-compliant shelters are in place.
Why is hiring you better than building a DIY storm shelter?
Our concrete storm shelters meet FEMA standards for F5 tornado resistance, with professional pouring of floors and walls that DIY efforts often lack in strength and proper anchoring. Amateurs risk improper installation, like inadequate excavation or unsealed concrete, which can fail under high winds or debris impact. We ensure safe, lasting protection through expertise, avoiding common pitfalls such as flooding vulnerabilities in below-ground DIY builds.
