18 years agoWe had gotten one other bid and this was the lower of the two, but probably the reason for selecting them, in addition to the price, was their professionalism, their promptness and the fact that they are "restoration" people who know older buildings (ours is 1850). (We had called several other firms but only one other had even bothered to call back). They provided an estimate, and then a contract, within 2 days. They are located near the South End in Boston and are therefore very handy for anyone living in or near South End, Beacon Hill, Roxbury, or Back Bay. They are very knowledgeable about brownstone and its peculiarities. The quality of their work was excellent. We would have no hesitation in calling them again.

FAQ
How does Abbot Building Restoration Co., Inc. determine pricing for restoration projects?
We assess pricing based on the project's scope, materials required, and labor involved after an on-site evaluation. Free estimates are provided to give homeowners a clear, upfront cost without obligation. This approach ensures transparency, as factors like New England's weather exposure can influence the final quote.
Are you licensed and insured for handyman and restoration work?
Abbot Building Restoration Co., Inc. maintains full licensing and insurance coverage for all our restoration, construction, and handyman services. Our credentials protect both your property and our crew during tasks like masonry and roofing. Homeowners can verify this directly through state records or our office for peace of mind.
Does Abbot Building Restoration Co., Inc. handle concrete repair and foundation work as well as brick repointing?
We specialize in concrete contracting and foundation contracting alongside masonry tasks like brick repointing and repair. Our crew addresses issues such as cracks in concrete walls and performs bricklaying to restore structural integrity. These services cover maintenance and full overhauls suited to local properties.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for scheduled jobs?
We provide clear timelines during the estimate, with most handyman and restoration projects starting within a week of booking depending on scope. Our team arrives within a two-hour window on the agreed date, communicating any adjustments promptly. Larger jobs like roof overhauls may span several days, with daily updates to minimize disruption.
How does Abbot Building Restoration Co., Inc. handle cleanup and debris after masonry or roofing work?
We remove all waste and debris from the site, leaving your property clean and tidy after every job. Our process includes hauling away old bricks, concrete chunks, and roofing materials responsibly. Homeowners appreciate returning to a workspace as neat as we found it, with no trace of the project left behind.
Why is hiring you for brick restoration or concrete repair safer than attempting DIY?
Professional methods use specialized tools and techniques to ensure repairs withstand harsh weather, avoiding common DIY failures like improper repointing that leads to further damage. Our experience identifies hidden issues, such as foundation weaknesses behind visible cracks, preventing costly future problems. DIY risks injury from heavy materials and heights, while we follow safety protocols for secure, lasting results.
