8 years agoThe work was completely promptly. The two employees who sprayed the foam were professional and responsive. Whitson had the better price of the quotes I received and they did a nice job. -

10 years ago$500 No problems at all. I got a first estimate from another contractor and it was $1500. Got estimate from Whitson and it was $500. Got a third estimate and it was again $1500. I questioned Brian regarding the difference in price because someone in my association told me I must be "comparing apples to oranges." In actuality, Brian's estimate was more comprehensive than the $1500 estimates - Whitson was going to fill my bulkheads as well as the attic. I could not be happier with my dealings with Whitson - and it was done in a timely fashion. They cleaned up after themselves too! I would definitely recommend Whitson! -

12 years ago$1,400 We had terrible ice on our roof last winter and had ice dams that caused water to back up into our house. Brian was very quick to come as soon as I called in Feb. He came right out and had answers to all my question and great suggestions on what need to be done to fix the problems causing us ice dams. Brian came out and left his crew to do the work. They did the job in a timely manner and cleaned up the mess perfectly. They had one area that they could not get to because of the ice and snow on the roof. They promised they would be back in the spring and I took them at their word and paid the bill in full. They didn't come back in the spring because of being very busy. I kept calling (and calling) and they finally came back on June 5th to finish the job. I would hire them again they did a good job. -

12 years ago$1,300 They were pleasant to work with and did exactly what we requested. I have since been in the attic and can see that the coverage isn't as even as I would hope. It is an odd space, though, and tough to traverse so it might be as good as possible.

FAQ
How does Whitson Insulation Company of Grand Rapids, Inc. determine pricing for insulation projects?
We provide free estimates for all insulation work, which allows us to assess your specific space and needs before giving you an accurate quote. Pricing depends on factors like the type of insulation material you choose (blown fiberglass, cellulose, spray foam, or batts), the square footage of the area being insulated, and any prep work required. Our estimates are competitive, and we're transparent about costs so you know exactly what to expect before work begins.
Are you licensed and insured to perform insulation work?
Whitson Insulation Company of Grand Rapids, Inc. maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to safely install all types of insulation, including spray foam, which requires specialized licensing in Michigan. Insurance protects both you and our team in case of any accidents or damage during the installation process. You can ask for proof of our credentials and insurance coverage when you request your free estimate.
What types of insulation does Whitson Insulation Company of Grand Rapids, Inc. install?
We install a full range of insulation products to match your home's needs: loose blown fiberglass and cellulose, fiberglass batts and blankets, open and closed cell spray foam, and sprayed-in-place fiberglass and cellulose. Each material has different benefits depending on your attic, walls, or crawl space configuration. During your estimate, our team will explain which option works best for your specific situation and budget.
How quickly can you schedule an insulation installation?
Whitson Insulation Company of Grand Rapids, Inc. works to accommodate your timeline and can often schedule projects promptly after your estimate. We understand that homeowners need reliable service, especially for urgent issues like ice dams or energy loss. Contact us with your preferred dates, and we'll confirm availability and give you a clear arrival window for your project.
What should I expect regarding cleanup and debris removal after Whitson Insulation Company of Grand Rapids, Inc. finishes the job?
We handle the installation process professionally and leave your home clean and in good condition after work is complete. Depending on the type of insulation installed, we manage any dust, packaging materials, or debris generated during the project. If you have specific concerns about how your attic or work area will look after installation, discuss those details during your estimate so there are no surprises.
Why should I hire a professional insulation contractor instead of doing this work myself?
Professional insulation installation ensures proper coverage, air sealing, and thermal performance that DIY work often misses. Improper installation can leave gaps and voids that reduce energy efficiency and allow air leaks, defeating the purpose of adding insulation. We have the specialized equipment, training, and experience to install materials safely and correctly, especially with spray foam, which requires certification and protective gear. A properly installed system saves you money on heating and cooling costs for years to come.
